Microsoft
Schools Agreement V3.4 |
| |
| |
Microsoft
School Agreement is a comprehensive, annual licensing programme
specifically created to address the unique needs of primary
and secondary schools. Through a flexible and simple format,
it allows you to choose which products you wish to deploy on
your PCs and Servers, making it easier for you to licence and distribute
software with significant cost savings. |

| |
How
it works ? |
| |
To
qualify for School Agreement you must reach a minimum level
of 50 units. The Agreement is based on counting the total number
of eligible machines in your primary school, secondary school
or LEA and then multiplying that by the number of products you
wish to use on these machines - this figure is your unit count.
Each product has a separate price and this is multiplied by
the number of PCs to reach the cost for one year or multiplied
by three for the three year agreement option. One or more schools can also order together to reach Level B pricing. All Teachers can benefit from Work at Home rights to all software licensed by the agreement, for work related purposes, free of charge (also covers pupils using institution owned laptops). |
| |
| |
There
are two pricing levels: |
| |
Level
A = Minimum 50 units up to 2499 eligible PCs |
Level
B = 2500+ eligible PCs |
| |
| |
Schools
can also licence students providing they have a School Agreement
in place. The minimum unit count for eligibility is 100, and schools
can choose to licence a specific number of students or the entire
population (this is a chargeable option). Full details on request.
Eligible machines include 100% of all Pentium II, iMac G3s or equivalent or better. In addition you have the option to include any number
of older machines. So, eligible machines are calculated
as follows: |
| |
100% of all Pentiums IIs and above |
100% of all iMac G3s and above |
Any number
of lower spec Pentiums and MAC machines you wish to include |
| |
At the end of the agreement you can
choose one of the following options: |
| |
Renew the agreement |
Exit
School agreement remove software |
Exit
School agreement buy software under an alternative licensing programme |
Exit
School agreement upgrade to a perpetual licence
through the buy out option |
| |
Term
of agreement
There are two terms available: One Year Term or
Three Year Term. Three Year Term customers need to restate their PC count at each anniversary date, at which time new products can also be added; prices are protected for all products licensed in the firt year, at first year prices. Products can be added mid-term, but the full year price will be due, and existing agreement dates will apply. |
| |
| |
What
can be included in the agreement?
| |
| There is an extensive range of Microsoft Desktop Software and Microsoft Server Products which can be licensed under the Microsoft School Agreement. For the purposes of the Unit Count, all Desktop Software Licences are valued at 1 Unit each, and Server Products all have different Unit values. Please see below for a full list of the current Microsoft Desktop Software and Microsoft Server Products available, together with the Unit values for the Server Product licences.
